Memoirs , 1943
Scope and Contents
This collection includes correspondence, notes, reports, scrapbooks, photographs and exhibition materials relating to the volunteer work and life of Mariagnes Aya Medrud. Her papers offer insight into the operations of such organizations as the American Friends Service Committee, as well as insight into daily life at the Mindoka Internment Camp. The collection has been arranged into three series; volunteer organizations and activities, personal and family papers and visual materials. Series I reflects the organizations and activities in which Mariagnes volunteered. The bulk of this series contains records of her activities within the American Friends Service Committee. Also included in this series are the posters displayed in the exhibit “A Day of Remembrance.” This series is divided into two subseries based on the major areas in which she concentrated her volunteer work and activism. Materials are arranged alphabetically. Series II consists of personal family papers including genealogical records, correspondence, awards and school yearbooks. These materials are arranged alphabetically then chronologically. Series III consists of visual materials that relate to Mariagnes’s family and friends, primarily her immediate family. There are six scrapbooks, including one scrapbook compiled by Mariagnes while interned at Minidoka, which offers insight into daily life at the camp. Images of family and friends include both amateur snapshots and professional portraits. The series is divided into three subseries by material type: photographs, postcards, and scrapbooks. The majority of materials are arranged first alphabetically and then chronologically when date can be determined. Negatives are available for prints when indicated.
