William H. Baughn Collection
Scope and Contents
The collection consists of the records compiled by the several faculty and University of Colorado representatives to the Missouri Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Association, the Big Eight Conference, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association from the years 1947 to 1988. In 1966, Dean William H. Baughn took the position and inherited the records of previous representatives. The collection holds the rules, regulations, minutes and correspondence of these successive organizations, along with memoranda, subject files and financial records relating mainly to meetings of the Big Eight representatives.

Biographical / Historical
William H. Baughn, Dean of the University of Colorado College of Business and Administration and Graduate School of Business Administration (1964-1984), was acting Chancellor of the Boulder Campus and twice President of the University of Colorado (1985, 1990-1991). He was the long term faculty/University of Colorado Representative to the Big Eight Conference and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) (1966-1989), served two terms as Chairman of the Big Eight Conference (1969-1970, 1978-1979), and served on the NCAA Council (1981-1984).

Includes a mix of training materials, workshop notes, public speeches, information on Big 8 conferences such as financial records, regulations, and correspondences from 1966 to 1986.
