 Collection
Identifier: COU:866

Abstract

Jasper Lake dam (near Devil's Thumb in the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area), that had been built in 1895, repaired in 1917, was purchased by Boulder attorney John Whittemyer in 1988. Already the owner of adjacent property and an easement right to his property through the Wilderness Area, Whittemyer brought in crews to repair the dam, over the protests of several environmental organizations. The collection contains news clippings, an article by Harvey Gardiner on a visit he made to the construction site, and photographs.
