Scope and Content

The Lavinia Small Papers contains a wide variety of materials that Lavinia Small both collected and created, including poems, stories, newspaper articles, photographs, letters, postcards, and documents about child development and psychology. Lavinia was an avid writer; fragments, drafts and copies of her works can be found throughout the collection. Of particular interest are the letters that Lavinia exchanged with Queen Marie, which provide information regarding the Queen’s time in the United States as well as the political climate of the 1930s, as well as information about Romania and the royal family.
