Scope and Contents
The Ernest E. Wahlstrom papers contain original crystallography drawings and figures, correspondence, publications, and research material on Wahlstrom’s work on the Western Part of the Harold D. Roberts Tunnel. Included, are both single drawings and a book of drawings drawn by his daughter, Karen Guzak.

Biographical / Historical
Ernest E. Wahlstrom (1909-2000) was born in Boulder, Colorado to Charles S. and Christine Wahlstrom. Ernest earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado in 1931 and his Masters of Arts in 1933. He then went on to earn a second Masters of Arts in 1936 and a Doctorate of Philosophy in 1939 from Harvard University. Subsequently, he became a professor of geology at the University of Colorado Boulder in 1947 and went on to serve as the Department Chairman of Geological Science from 1967 to 1968, the Dean of Faculties from 1968 to 1970 and the Vice Provost from 1970 to 1971. Among his departmental work, Wahlstrom was very active as a member of the Geological Society of America, the Mineral Society of America and the Society Economic Geologists. He is known for his research and original drawings of geological structures throughout his professional life.
