Biographical / Historical
Dan Fong graduated with a degree in Marketing from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1970. Shortly after finishing school, he opened his photography business in the Cherry Creek neighborhood of Denver. A short time later he collaborated with a radio station, KFML 98.5 FM, in the same neighborhood. He would provide them with marketing photographs and they agreed to air commercials promoting his business. Once KFML found out his family had a catering business and that he knew how to cook, they started employing him to cater for record labels like Warner Brothers, Capitol Records and RCA.
In 1972, he landed a catering job for the Rolling Stones through Barry Fey, who was a prominent rock promoter in the Denver area. After the Stones, Fong continued to work parties for Fey and eventually for the Doobie Brothers as their chef, then their media coordinator and photographer. Fong, through his connections with Barry Fey and others, was able to capture pictures of many musical artists throughout his career. His photography is also credited on ten music albums.
Dan Fong’s business, Dan Fong and the Creativeye, LLC, offers a variety of photographic services and is located in Wheatridge, Colorado.
