Biographical / Historical

The Center For Action Research, Inc., a non profit corporation, was organized in 1975 when staff from the Bureau of Sociological Research was transferred to the Center. Under the direction of Professor Robert Hunter of the Sociology Department, the Center worked under contract with the Office of Youth Development in the Department of Health, Education and Welfare, providing technical assistance on youth development and delinquency to states, local governments and other organizations.

The Center for Action Research was a center of the Sociology Department which trained VISTA volunteers during the 1970s. Collection contains inactive records from 1970-1976 including administrative files and project files, especially community juvenile delinquency projects.
