Professor A. Gayle Waldrop (1899 – 1995) served 46 years in the University of Colorado School of Journalism. Waldrop graduated from Southwestern University and from Columbia University with a degree in journalism. While living in Boulder, Waldrop taught at the University of Colorado and improved the School of Journalism, wrote a textbook, and continued to write newspaper articles. The Dakan Collection contains a four year run (1925-1929) of the French journal, Journal Des Fabricants De Sucre (Journal of the Sugar Manufactor). The weekly journal was noted for its unbiased international review of the sugar industry. Although written mainly in French, each issue has 1 to 2 pages in English and a half page in Spanish. The issues contain articles on the Colorado sugar beet industry and on U.S. sugar policies.

Albert E. Howe was an immigrant from New Brunswick most known for opening a mortuary business in Boulder, Colorado and operating as the Boulder County Coroner for over twenty years. This collection contains personal correspondence and material relating to the Howe Mortuary. The majority of the items are records of the Woodmen of the World, Tellurium Camp No. 20 (Boulder, Colorado) which Howe and his son served as secretary of for many years.
