Perry A. Burgess (1843-1900), emigrant cattleman, businessman, and promoter, kept a memoir of his life. In 1866, Burgess and his uncles left Illinois and traveled on the Bozeman Trial to the Montana Territory. While driving a herd along the Overland and Bozeman Trials, Burgess dealt with the challenges of Native Americans, arid geography and extreme weather. The collection includes phonefiche for urban areas listing 70,000 telephone customers located in seven mountain states: Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.
