Philip George Burchill (1921–2010) was a graduate of the US Navy Japanese/Oriental Language School at the University of Colorado and served at an intelligence officer in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean War. The collection contains personal correspondence, photographs, military records, and reference files regarding WWII and his service in the US Navy. The bulk of the collection dates after 1960.

The Philip Myers Collection contains the papers of Philip Myers (1915-2007), who graduated from the US Navy Japanese Language School, located at the University of Colorado in Boulder from 1942-1946. The collection contains newspaper clippings, Japanese postcards, photographs, and a book on Chinese-Japanese Characters.

Phonefiche was distributed by U.S. West, an interstate communications business that operates in the Western United States and owns Mountain Bell, a telephone company serving Colorado and nearby states. The collection includes phonefiche for urban areas listing 70,000 telephone customers located in seven mountain states: Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. Dissemination of telephone book contents in a computer-output microform format began in the early 1970's.
