Scope and Contents
Series 01, Field documents, forms the bulk of the Yellow Jacket collection. It contains documents created by members of the excavation field crew and supervisors including field notes, 'field specimen' or item catalogs, excavation profile drawings, drawings and tracings of excavated items, and maps of the sites. Note that the oversized (larger than 8.5" x 11") maps and profile drawings are organized under Series 07. The sites documented by this series include 5MT-1, 5MT-2, and 5MT-3.

Scope and Contents
The 120 items in this series closely resemble the maps, plans, and profiles present in Series 01 but can be differentiated by their size (greater than 8" x 11") and the fact they were not necessarily produced close to the time of excavation. Maps and plans are available for each excavated site within the Yellow Jacket Complex as well as 5MT-5. The Yellow Jacket collection consists of documents and photographs created by faculty, students, and staff in the course of operating an archaeological field school at an area known as the Joe Ben Wheat Complex, or Yellow Jacket, in southwestern Colorado.
